Robert Mascali, Esq. Joins The Centers

Robert MascaliPlease join us in welcoming Robert P. Mascali, Esq. to The Centers. Robert will be working primarily in New York and New England assisting individuals, families and their attorneys regarding public benefit compliance both now and in the future.

With more than 35 years of extensive experience helping individuals plan their estate and trust matters and the last 15 years of his career concentrating in the area of special needs planning, Robert will be a valuable asset serving the special needs community.

Robert was most recently an attorney with Pierro, Schaeffer and Connor in Lathan, New York, where he focused on special needs planning for individuals with disabilities, long-term care planning, and estate planning. Prior, Robert served as Deputy Counsel and Managing Attorney for the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (now the Office for People with Development Disabilities) where he made great strides in implementing initiatives to improve lives within the special needs community. One such initiative included legislation requiring criminal background checks for employees and volunteers of providers of services certified, authorized or approved by the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (Chapter 575 of the Laws of 2004).

As a member of the New York State Bar Association, Robert serves on the Executive Committee and as Co-Vice Chair of the Special Needs Planning and the Legislation Committees of the Elder Law and Special Needs Section. In 2014, he received the President’s Award for his pro bono services from the New York State Bar Association. Robert is also a member of the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and is currently the president elect.

Committed to his community and helping others, Robert actively participates on the Board of Directors of Northern Rivers Family Services, Inc. which provides services and support to vulnerable children and their families in upstate New York. He is also a member of their Executive Committee and Chair of the Strategic Initiatives Committee. In addition, Robert is on the Board of Directors of the Northeastern Association of the Blind Foundation, Inc.
